[Inédit] Cameroun : Le village de Baméka crée sa propre monnaie d’échange locale, « le munkap »
Comme un « Fake news », mais cela s’est avéré une réalité. Le village camerounais, Baméka a désormais sa propre monnaie locale pour effectuer les échanges commerciaux dans le marché public dudit village.
Baméka est un village de l’ouest du Cameroun, chef lieu de groupement de la commune de Bamendjou dans le département des Hauts plateaux. Le marché est animé deux jours dans la semaine et sur deux sites différents. Les habitants de ce village vont utiliser dorénavant « le munkap » pour leurs achats
Dans un projet implémenté depuis un moment par l’agence de coopération allemande GIZ, sa majesté le Natchema des baméka, Takoukam Jean Raymond, a lancé il y a quelques jours sur l’explanade de la chefferie supérieure appelé Sséh Kwétsit, l’entrée en circulation d’une monnaie locale d’échange commercial appelée « Mukap ».
Il faut noter que dans le temps, c’est justement cette explanade de la chefferie baméka qui abritait jadis le marché du village (comme dans presque tous les villages à l’époque). « Le chef étant le garant de l’économie du village, il s’asseyait à la même place occupé par le Natchema [le Chef Supérieur] lors des événements, et observait à distance les échanges se dérouler d’où l’appellation place du marché baméka pour désigner la place des fêtes de la chefferie », explique un vieux villageois
