En seulement cinq jours d’existence, Threads a franchi une étape importante : le réseau social compte déjà 100 millions d’utilisateurs enregistrés.
Mark Zuckerberg a admis que le lancement de Threads avait « de loin dépassé les attentes de Meta ».
L’intégration avec Instagram n’est pas la moindre, bien que les décisions manifestement controversées d’Elon Musk aient conduit les utilisateurs de Twitter à accorder la plus grande attention à la plate-forme alternative.
À l’heure actuelle, les utilisateurs de plus d’une centaine de pays ont accès à Threads, mais dans l’Union européenne, le lancement de l’application n’a pas encore eu lieu en raison de nuances juridiques, d’un nombre potentiellement énorme de parties intéressées.
La nouvelle plateforme Threads, le rival de Twitter créé par Meta (Facebook), attire un grand nombre de nouveaux abonnés. Mais le nouveau service très attendu, qui exige un compte Instagram pour l’inscription, comporte une stipulation intrigante: la suppression d’un compte Threads nécessite la suppression du compte Instagram qui lui est lié.
Dans une politique de confidentialité supplémentaire, Meta explique: «vous pouvez désactiver votre profil Threads à tout moment, mais votre profil Threads ne peut être supprimé qu’en supprimant votre compte Instagram».
La raison, précise Meta sur la page de la politique, est que vos profils Threads et Instagram ne forment qu’un seul compte. Dans un message sur son compte Threads, le PDG Mark Zuckerberg a expliqué sa vision de la nouvelle application: «Je pense qu’il devrait y avoir une application de conversations publiques avec plus d’un milliard de personnes. Twitter a eu l’occasion de le faire, mais n’a pas réussi. J’espère que nous y parviendrons».
Cependant, à l’heure actuelle, Threads et Instagram ne forment qu’un seul et même compte, de sorte que la suppression de l’un entraînerait la suppression de l’autre. Le responsable d’Instagram, Adam Mosseri a déclaré que l’entreprise «étudie un moyen de supprimer votre compte Threads séparément».
