La fin des câbles qui traînent derrière le meuble de la télévision et s’entortillent avec ceux des autres équipements ? Au salon CES de Las Vegas qui débute ce jeudi, la start-up californienne Displace fait sensation avec son prototype de TV 4K à l’écran Oled où aucun fil électrique ne dépasse.
L’innovation dans tout ça ? Un système ingénieux de quatre batteries rechargeables qui s’insèrent sur les côtés de l’écran de 55 pouces. Plus besoin d’installer sa télévision au plus près d’une prise électrique et en fonction de la longueur du câble.
On l’accroche au mur grâce à de solides ventouses sans avoir à percer de trous pour des vis. « Les gens devraient pouvoir installer leur TV sur n’importe quel mur où n’importe quel endroit », nous explique Balaji Krishnan, le fondateur de la jeune pousse. Cette TV intelligente ne comporte aucun port HDMI pour y brancher un autre appareil comme une console de jeux ou un lecteur Blu-ray.
Le contenu vidéo est en fait diffusé depuis un box avec un puissant processeur et grâce à une connexion en wi-fi. La Displace TV inclut une caméra rétractable qui peut servir à passer des appels vidéos mais surtout à contrôler l’appareil en quelques gestes à la place d’une télécommande.
Ses créateurs promettent une autonomie d’un mois à raison d’une consommation audiovisuelle de 6 heures par jour. Les précommandes ont débuté et la commercialisation devrait débuter fin 2023 à un tarif avoisinant les 3 000 dollars sur le marché américain. En attendant de convaincre les fabricants comme Samsung, LG ou Sony d’adopter ou non cette technologie.
Que signifie 4K ?
Un téléviseur 4K est un téléviseur avec une résolution 4K. Cela signifie que le téléviseur a 3,840 pixels horizontaux et 2,160 pixels verticaux, pour un total d’environ 8.3 millions de pixels.
Dans les caractéristiques techniques des téléviseurs, les résolutions sont généralement affichées sous la forme « 3840 x 2160 » pour les téléviseurs 4K.
La résolution est un terme qui indique la densité des pixels, ces minuscules points qui s’assemblent à l’écran. Les pixels individuels se rassemblent pour former l’image que vous voyez à l’écran. Plus le nombre de pixels est important, plus la résolution est élevée. Le « K » de 4K signifie Kilo (1000), ce qui veut dire que le téléviseur a atteint une résolution horizontale d’environ 4,000 pixels.
Qu’en est-il de la qualité ?
Les téléviseurs 4K ont quatre fois plus de pixels que les téléviseurs traditionnels Full HD (1920 x 1080). Même sur des écrans de même taille, la qualité d’image d’un téléviseur 4K est plus vive et plus détaillée grâce à une plus grande densité de pixels. Cette différence est particulièrement évidente sur les téléviseurs grand écran.
Par exemple, si vous comparez la qualité d’un téléviseur traditionnel Full HD 65 pouces à celle d’un téléviseur UHD 4K 65 pouces, vous remarquerez une différence dans les pixels qui composent l’écran. Pour les téléviseurs haute résolution, les pixels sont plus petits que sur les téléviseurs basse résolution de la même taille.
Vous pouvez donc profiter d’une expérience plus immersive sans restriction de distance de visionnage et regarder de près sans remarquer les pixels individuels.
