En Côte d’Ivoire, la cour d’assises d’Abidjan a condamné à la prison à perpétuité onze accusés de l’attentat jihadiste de la cité balnéaire de Grand Bassam qui avait fait 19 morts en mars 2016.
Le tribunal criminel d’Abidjan a condamné mercredi à la prison à perpétuité onze des 18 accusés pour le premier attentat terroriste de l’histoire de la Côte d’Ivoire ayant fait 19 morts et une trentaine de blessés en mars 2016 à Grand-Bassam dans le sud-est du pays, à 30 kilomètres d’Abidjan. Le tribunal a suivi le réquisitoire demandé la semaine dernière, par le procureur de la République Richard Adou.
Parmi les onze condamnés figurent les quatre accusés présents au procès, à savoir le chauffeur ayant convoyé les armes, l’homme qui a fait le repérage des lieux et deux autres personnes qui ont hébergé le commando terroriste.
En effet un tribunal d’Abidjan, a reconnu les quatre « coupables des faits qui leur sont reprochés et les a condamnés à la réclusion à perpétuité », a annoncé le juge Charles Bini.
Les quatre accusés ont clamé leur innocence, niant les faits.
Les quatre accusés présents, étaient jugés pour avoir été complices de cette attaque en aidant ceux considérés comme ses cerveaux, absents du procès, notamment dans le repérage des lieux, ce qu’ils ont nié.
Des prévenus absents au procès condamnés par contumace
Sept autres prévenus, au procès, qui sont en fuite ou en détention au Mali, ont également été condamnés à la peine de prison à perpétuité par contumace. Parmi eux figurent les présumés cerveaux de l’opération, les nommés Kounta Dalla et Ould Baba.
L’attaque du 13 mars 2016 a été la première attaque djihadiste en Côte d’Ivoire, l’une des puissances économiques de l’Afrique de l’Ouest.
Lors d’une opération faisant écho à un massacre djihadiste l’année précédente en Tunisie, trois hommes armés de fusils d’assaut ont pris d’assaut la plage de Grand-Bassam, une station balnéaire à 40 kilomètres (25 miles) à l’est d’Abidjan populaire auprès des Européens, avant d’attaquer des hôtels et des restaurants.
L’attentat avait été revendiqué par Al-Qaïda au Maghreb islamique (Aqmi).
Neuf Ivoiriens, quatre Français, un Libanais, une Allemande, une Macédonienne, une Malienne, une Nigériane et une personne non identifiée sont parmi les 19 victimes.
