[Chronique] Une triste réalité au Togo : beaucoup de mamans meurent en couche par faute de sang !
Le manque de sang dans les centres de santé au Togo tue quelque fois nos mamans en couche
Peu de sang, ce produit vital nécessaire à la transfusion est collecté au Togo, exposant de nombreuses personnes à des pénuries potentiellement mortelles malgré les campagnes de don de sang du centre national de transfusion sanguine pour demander aux populations (en bonne santé) de se mobiliser pour donner leurs sang.
L’une des raisons pour lesquelles la transfusion sanguine est cruciale est qu’elle sert à sauver la vie de femmes qui souffrent d’hémorragies graves pendant la grossesse, l’accouchement ou après l’accouchement. Une telle hémorragie peut être fatale en deux heures si elle n’est pas traitée.
Selon les médecins, ces décès maternels ou en couche sont directement dus à cinq complications : l’hémorragie, la septicémie, l’éclampsie, l’obstruction du travail et les complications de l’avortement. La plupart de ces complications nécessitent une disponibilité rapide de sang pour sauver la vie de la mère et de l’enfant.
Un décès en couches sur deux pourrait être évité !
Certaines personnes ou publications accusent les sages-femmes et les médecins pour le manque des poches de sang dans les centres de santé mais il est urgent plutôt de chercher des débuts de solutions et la source du problème.
Aucun médecin ou sage-femme normalement constitué sauf négligence (ce qui s’observe malheureusement dans nos hôpitaux et centres de santé ) ne peut vouloir la mort de son patient.
Et si le Centre National de Transfusion Sanguine ( CNTS )était plus proche des centre de santé et à la moindre alerte, il envoie là où les poches de sang sont nécessaires pour sauver une vie? Le médecin ou l’infirmier avec un coup de fil peut faire venir la poche de sang nécessaire et la facture sera donc adressée à qui de droit etc. C’est une solution simple qu’on peut faire si on a la bonne volonté. Je pense que c’est ce qui devrait se faire comme on peut le voir ailleurs.
Mais dire que c’est la famille du malade qui pour souvent est mal informée qui y va pour chercher des poches de sang avec toutes les difficultés qu’elle pourrait rencontrer, je dis NON.
Le ministère de la santé et toutes les autres structures intervenants dans le processus doivent redoubler encore plus d’efforts dans la collecte de ce produit vital et sa proximité près des hôpitaux et centres de santé au togo pour résoudre ce problème de manque de sang qui tue malheureusement nos mamans en couche.
