À chaque fois que je pose cette question à mes élèves ils me répondent que c’est impossible : Comment l’homme le plus riche d’Afrique pourrait être endetté ?
L’un des moyens pour reconnaître qu’une personne n’a pas d’intelligence financière est qu’elle oppose systématiquement la richesse à la dette.
Le pauvre a été éduqué pour éviter les dettes : Nos parents disaient, » il faut tout faire pour éviter les dettes, etc….) cela a pour conséquence le fait que la plupart des gens issus de familles pauvres ou moyennes n’arriveront jamais à un certain niveau dans leurs affaires .
On entend souvent au quartier des phrases comme » j’ai construit ma maison sans crédit, ou encore j’ai monté mon entreprise sans dette etc… » c’est quasiment une fierté pour les gens de dire ça, alors qu’il s’agit en réalité d’une parfaite illustration d’un manque d’intelligence financière.
Je vais te choquer ce matin : Sais tu que la dette est considérée comme un asset dans le monde de la finance ???
Prenons l’exemple du classement forbes ????
Quand Forbes publie la liste des milliardaires dans le monde, les gens ont tendance à penser que leurs fortunes représentent le montant qu’il y’a dans leurs comptes en banque.
Faux : La liste des milliardaires est faite à partir de la valorisation de ton entreprise + ta dette .
Qu’est ce que ça signifie concrètement ?
Je vais te prendre un exemple très simple pour te faire comprendre : Disons que tu as ta boutique de vêtements : Ta première valorisation, c’est le montant total des vêtements qu’il y’a dans ta boutique : Si tu as par exemple 10 t-shirts que tu vends à 10.000 fcfa l’unité, on dira que ton entreprise pèse 100.000fcfa
Est-ce que tu me suis ?
La deuxième valorisation, c’est le montant de ta dette : Si pour ouvrir ta boutique de vêtements, tu avais pris un crédit de 50.000, ce crédit est considéré comme un asset et non une liability :Donc on va rajouter le montant de ton crédit à ta première valorisation.
50.000 + 100.000fcfa = 150.000 fcfa. On dira alors que ta fortune est de 150.000 Fcfa.
Est ce que tu me suis toujours ?
La question est de savoir pourquoi la dette est rajoutée à ta fortune, alors que tu dois rembourser ???
Ton comptable au quartier par exemple te dira qu’il faut soustraire la dette quand tu fais ton calcul, car c’est ce qu’on lui a enseigné et c’est pourquoi il est toujours pauvre.
La dette d’entreprise n’est pas une liability, c’est un asset.
L’argent n’existe pas et les milliardaires le savent : Donc ils utilisent la dette pour son effet de levier est c’est la raison pour laquelle, leurs dettes sont considérées comme des biens.
Prenons l’exemple du rachat de Twitter par Elon musk.
Tu penses réellement que Elon était en banque prendre son argent pour le mettre sur le compte de Twitter lors du rachat ??
Il a simplement utilisé la dette contre ses actions tesla.
Comment cela est possible ?
C’est simple :
Il s’est rapproché de sa banque pour prendre un crédit en mettant en gage ses parts de la société tesla. Une fois que la banque lui a accordé le crédit, il a utilisé cet argent pour racheter Twitter. De cette façon, en devenant propriétaire de Twitter, sa ligne de crédit devient plus importante car sa valorisation a augmenté et les bénéfices de ses entreprises remboursent les crédits.
C’est la raison pour laquelle les crédits sont considérés comme un bien chez les milliardaires et les industriels car ils utilisent la dette pour l’effet de levier.
Les pauvres et la classe moyenne utilisent la dette pour acheter des voitures, partir en vacances etc…. C’est la raison pour laquelle la dette est considérée comme une liability chez eux, alors que la même dette est considérée comme un bien chez les riches.
Aliko Dangote est l’homme le plus riche d’Afrique parce que c’est l’un des hommes les plus endettés, sauf que ses dettes lui rapportent plus d’argent tous les jours.

Tu construit ta maison avec ton propre argent, alors que le fondateur de facebook a acheté sa maison à crédit, car les intérêts de son crédit sont inférieurs au taux d’inflation annuel. Il utilise donc la dette à son avantage Au lieu de perdre sa fortune.
