La direction générale de la Tde informe à travers un communiqué rendu public le 05 février 2021, qu’aucun frais de déplacement des techniciens sur le terrain n’est exigé. Selon la direction un groupe d’individu malintentionné dirigé par un escroc du nom de « ANAYO » se fait passer pour des agents de la Tde pour soutirer de l’argent aux clients.
Selon la société Togolaise des Eaux ces individus ont un mode d’opération pour arnaquer leur cible. « Leur mode opératoire consiste à appeler les clients en attente de leurs branchements avec différents numéros téléphoniques et demandent qu’ils prennent attache avec le secrétaire sous un autre numéro qui à son tour demande de payer leur devis de branchement où des frais de déplacement des agents sur le terrain par transfert d’argent sur un compte Tmoney » a fait savoir la direction avant de préciser qu’aucun frais n’est exigé de la part des agents mais plutôt l’on paie à la caisse et après on vous donne un reçu pour attester cela.
