Santé/COVID-19 : Le Togo se prépare à administrer 636.000 doses du vaccin Covax à la population
636.000 doses de vaccins Covax seront attribuées au Togo, selon une liste de premiers bénéficiaires et de la quantité de vaccins qu’ils obtiendront au cours du premier semestre 2021. Le document a été publié depuis le 3 février par le dispositif Covax destiné à fournir des vaccins contre le nouveau coronavirus, en particulier aux pays défavorisés.
Selon la même source, 145 pays sont concernés par cette phase. Les pays qui recevront le plus grand nombre de doses sont l’Inde, le Nigeria, le Pakistan, l’Indonésie, le Brésil et le Bangladesh.
Au total, indique-t-on, les doses couvriront 3,3% de la population des 145 pays, à commencer par les plus vulnérables, et notamment le personnel soignant. Environ 337,2 millions d’unités sont prévues à cet effet, d’après les documents fournis par Covax.
Selon le ministre Moustafa Mijiyawa de la Santé du Togo; le pays utilisera le vaccin AstraZeneca « dans les semaines à venir » pour la première phase de sa campagne de vaccination. « La vaccination des cibles se fera progressivement en fonction de la disponibilité des vaccins », a-t-il indiqué dans un courrier daté du 11 février adressé aux directeurs régionaux et préfectoraux de la santé, directeurs des hôpitaux et directeurs des écoles de formation médicale et paramédicale pour le dénombrement des cibles de la campagne de vaccination.
