Nigeria/Violences conjugales: Entre janvier 2021 à juin 2021, 194 hommes battus par leurs épouses !
L’équipe de réponse aux violences domestiques et sexuelles (DSVRT) de l’État de Lagos a déclaré avoir enregistré environ 194 cas d’hommes qui auraient été battus par leurs épouses au cours des six derniers mois.
Ce chiffre est contenu dans le rapport semestriel de la DSVRT publié mercredi. Ce nombre est supérieur de 44,33 % aux 108 cas d’agression signalés par des hommes de janvier 2020 à juin 2020.
Le rapport couvre la période de janvier 2021 à juin 2021. Au cours de cette période, la DSVRT a traité plusieurs cas de violences domestiques.
Selon la News Agency of Nigeria, les données ont également montré que 77 % des victimes étaient mariées, 11 % célibataires, 7 % veufs et divorcés, tandis que 5 % étaient en cohabitation.
Dans une interview accordée à l’Agence de presse du Nigeria (NAN), la coordinatrice de la DSVRT, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, a déclaré qu’il y avait eu une forte augmentation des cas de violence dans l’État de Lagos depuis 2014.
Elle a toutefois déclaré que les hommes avaient du mal à signaler les incidents d’agression principalement en raison des normes culturelles.
« Le patriarcat est l’ennemi de tous car il maintient les gens dans le silence. Dès le plus jeune âge, les hommes ne sont pas autorisés à s’exprimer lorsqu’ils vivent un traumatisme, et cela perdure à l’âge adulte. Lorsqu’un homme est victime de violence, même ses semblables se moquent de lui, et cette personne ne sera pas en mesure de s’exprimer. Avec les données que nous voyons, nous sommes convaincus que si les hommes sont sensibilisés, ils vont signaler ces incidents. Ils seront traités avec empathie et professionnalisme et pourront être encouragés à parler et à signaler ces incidents. »
