Un appel pour le reboisement des abords des routes
Lomé, sa banlieue et certaines grandes villes du pays sont en chantier pour la construction des infrastructures routières. Les sociétés exécutantes de ces travaux procèdent systématiquement à l’abattage anarchique des arbres pour, certainement respecter les normes que demandent les routes en construction, mais cela inquiète l’Observatoire Ouest Africain de l’Environnement (OOAE), qui a réagit.
Face à la presse mercredi 1er février 2023 à Lomé, le journaliste et directeur exécutif de l’Observatoire Ouest Africain de l’Environnement (OOAE), Ambroise Kpondzo, a interpellé les autorités administratives, municipales et sociétés de BTP, sur la nécessité de reboiser les abords de ces nouvelles routes dans le Grand Lomé et ses banlieues et aussi dans toutes les autres villes du Togo.
Depuis que la construction et la réhabilitation des routes sont lancés au Togo, l’OOAE constate avec regret qu’une fois l’abattage des arbres sont opéré par les sociétés exécutantes des travaux, aucune mesure de reboisement des abords n’a été envisagé une fois les routes réalisées ou réhabilitées.
”Le boulevard qui passe à Deckon, la route de Kpalimé, la route de Ségbé, la voie des deux lions à Agoè même l’avenue de la Libération et la route qui mène à la foire sont une désolation pour les passagers, les oiseaux et autres espèces qui ont pour abri les arbres. Par contre, le boulevard qui passe devant le campus jusqu’à Lomé 2 est bien boisé. Il y a donc nécessité de suivre cet exemple car l’arbre a son importance et son utilité dans la vie de l’homme et de la protection de la biodiversité ” fait remarquer M. Kpondzo.
L’arbre est une importance capitale pour l’homme et les animaux. Il est source de bien-être physique et contribue à la qualité de la vie. Aussi participe-t-il à la régulation des écarts extrêmes de température, à la protection contre la chaleur, à l’ornement de la ville et permet à l’homme et autres espèces de se récréer.
”Les oiseaux meurent parce qu’ils n’ont plus d’abri. Faute d’arbre les piétons marchent sous le soleil. C’est pourquoi nous interpellons les entreprises de BTP et ceux qui construisent les routes de penser à reboiser les abords des routes. Un arbre qui a plus de 200 ans dans un pays, devient un monument” a indiqué M. Kpondzo.
Un autre constat inquiétant est la pollution de l’environnement par le manque de civisme de certaines personnes qui jette à même le sol sur les routes et dans les égouts prévus pour le drainage des eaux usées et de pluie, des plastiques non bio dégradables après utilisation.
”Ce sujet est d’actualité au Togo. Depuis le décret de 2011, peu de chose a bougé. Pis, la production des plastiques non biodégradables a augmenté et les sachets pullulent sur le marché. C’est dommage pour ce pays. Il y a lieu que le gouvernement face respecter le décret et que les producteurs, distributeurs et consommateurs sachent que ces sacs plastiques constituent un danger non seulement pour les humains, mais pour les espèces animales”a-t-il rappelé.
Un homme sain vit dans un environnement sain. Que chaque acteur puisse écouter cet appel de kpondzo et faire ce qu’il doit faire pour protéger notre environnement !
