Après Nathalie Yamb, la France interdit son territoire à un autre acteur panafricaniste du Niger
Maïkoul Zodi, Coordinateur au Niger de Tournons la Page (TLP), une coalition de plusieurs ONG est persona non grata en France après Nathalie Yamb.
La France accuse ce militant nigérien de la société civile d’être hostile à la présence de sa base militaire au Niger.
La France a annulé le 20 octobre le visa de circulation sur son territoire de Maïkoul Zodi. « I’ambassade de France m a envoyé tout à l’heure un courrier par email pour me notifier l’annulation de mon visa. », a déclaré à nos confrères de l’Agence France Presse (AFP), Maïkoul Zodi, qui est le coordinateur au Niger de Tournons la Page (TLP), une coalition de plusieurs ONG.
« Je vous informe de l’annulation de votre visa de circulation (…) valable du 03/05/2022 au 02/06/2023″, a écrit l’ambassadeur de France au Niger, Sylvain , dans ce courrier dont M. Zodi a transmis une copie à l’AFP. « Il convient de rappeler qu’un visa de circulation n’est pas un droit et qu’il est accordé généralement à des personnes qui sont amenées à se rendre souvent en France pour des raisons professionnelles, ce qui n’est pas le cas de M. Zodi », a précisé à l’AFP M. Itté ajoutant qu’il pouvait « parfaitement déposer une demande de visa s’il a un projet de venue en France ou dans l’espace Schengen ».
Maïkoul Zodi est connu pour ses critiques acerbes contre la présence des bases militaires étrangères pour la lutte antijihadiste et notamment l’opération française Barkhane qui s’est partiellement repliée au Niger après son retrait du Mali voisin. TLP a organisé des manifestations à Niamey pour demander le départ de ces forces. « Nous avons besoin de la coopération française. Mais nous ne voulons pas que la France joue un rôle paternaliste au Sahel », expliquait en juin M. Zodi dans un entretien à l’AFP. « Au fil du temps, ces forces sont devenues illégitimes parce qu’après dix ans d’existence, la situation ne fait qu’empirer », avait-il relevé.
Cette décision intervient quelques jours après l’interdiction d’entrée et de séjour en France prononcée contre la militante suisso-camerounaise Nathalie Yamb, connue pour ses positions très hostiles à la présence française en Afrique, selon une information de RFI. Dans sa lutte contre les mouvements jihadistes liés à Al-Qaïda et au groupe État islamique (EI), le Niger bénéficie du soutien de plusieurs pays occidentaux, dont la France et les États-Unis, qui ont des bases militaires à Niamey et dans la région d’Agadez (nord). En avril, le Parlement nigérien a voté en faveur d’un texte autorisant le déploiement de forces étrangères sur le territoire, notamment françaises, pour combattre les jihadistes.
