Les Etalons U20 du Burkina Faso sont qualifiés pour les demi-finales du Tournoi de l’Union des fédérations ouest africaines de football (UFOA) dans la zone B. L’équipe burkinabè dirigée par Brama Traoré s’est imposée (2-1) contre les Black satellites du Ghana ce samedi 14 mai 2022 au Stade Seyni Kountché de Niamey.
Après un nul (2-2), obtenu face au Nigeria, les Etalons avaient besoin juste d’un deuxième nul pour passer cette phase de groupe de l’UFOA B. Les U20 du Ghana s’étaient inclinés (2-2) contre leurs homologues du Nigeria. Les Ghanéens devaient à tout prix gagner pour passer ce tour.
Le premier temps fort de ce match est au profit des Etalons U20. Les Burkinabè sont actifs notamment sur les côtés avec Yacouba Konaté et Dicko tandis que Faad Sana au milieu de terrain, impose ses qualités techniques. Mais les Black satellites du Ghana prennent le match à leur compte. Ils obligent à deux reprises Philippe Maré à sortir des claquettes pour garder ses cages inviolées.
Les Burkinabè plient pendant près de 20 minutes sans rompre. Ils réussissent à faire le dos rond et attaquent à nouveau. Sur le côté gauche, Yacouba Konaté (33e) part en dribble et sert Moussa Ky qui de la tête permet aux Etalons de prendre l’avantage (1-0). Les Etalons sont dans une bonne lancée. Mais, juste avant la mi-temps, les Ghanéens trouvent l’égalisation (1-1) par l’intermédiaire de Alex Saro sur une frappe à l’entrée de la surface de réparation.
En deuxième période, les Etalons font un retour difficile. Les Ghanéens qui sont obligés de s’imposer. Le camp burkinabè est assailli mais les Étalons restent combatifs, bien regroupés en défense et réussissent à sortir les dangers. Philippe Maré, le dernier rempart des Étalons assure sur sa ligne de but.
Les Etalons surprennent les Ghanéens grâce au défenseur Aziz Bagré qui donne l’avantage aux Etalons dans les arrêts de jeu. Ce serait le score final. Grâce à cette victoire, les Etalons obtiennent leur ticket pour les demi-finales et affrontent le Bénin, leader du groupe A. Les deux finalistes de la compétition se qualifient à la Coupe d’Afrique des nations (CAN) U20 prévue en Egypte.
