C’est à travers un communiqué rendu public lundi 27 décembre 2021 que le gouvernement togolais a lancé l’administration de la troisième dose du vaccin contre la COVID-19
« Face à l’apparition du nouveau variant et la forte recrudescence des cas confirmés de Covid-19 et pour protéger la population, il est introduit une dose de rappel des vaccins anti-covid-19, troisième dose pour les vaccins à deux doses, et deuxième dose pour les vaccins à une dose », peut-on lire dans le communiqué.
Cette vaccination de rappel concerne toutes les personnes déjà vaccinées et ayant eu leur deuxième dose d’AstraZeneka, Pfizer, SINOVAC, ou leur dose de Johnson & Johnson, il y a moins de deux mois sur toute l’étendue du territoire national.
L’exécutif a par ailleurs invité la population au respect scrupuleux des mesures barrières déjà en vigueur afin d’éviter la propagation rapide du virus en ces périodes de fêtes de fin d’année.
