C’est dans un courrier adressé au Prefet de Doufelgou 1, parvenu à notre rédaction que Kpankpalgo Bassawélé informe de sa démission. Il démissionne du poste de Maire de cette localité, mais conserve son poste de conseiller élu du parti Union pour la République (UNIR) au sein du conseil municipal de Doufelgou 1.
Selon le maire démissionnaire, c’est une décision volontaire et sans pression aucune « Moi ma décision n’a rien avoir avec aucun problème que ce soit. C’est moi même qui ai écrit la lettre et signé. Je devais le faire dans le mois de mai. Mais j’ai attendu qu’on boucle notre compte administratif, puisque je suis le responsable. Et quand on a bouclé je suis passé à l’acte c’est tout » a-t-il expliqué
Procédure de démission d’un Maire
Le maire démissionnaire doit alors envoyer un courrier recommandé au préfet ; sa démission est considérée comme définitive à l’issue d’un délai d’un mois. Dès la démission du maire effective, le premier adjoint le remplace et assure l’intérim jusqu’à l’élection d’un nouveau maire mais également des adjoints.
C’est à lui que revient la responsabilité de convoquer, dans les quinze jours, le conseil municipal en vue de cette élection qui sera suivie de celles des adjoints. Il doit envoyer la convocation au minimum cinq jours francs avant la réunion dudit conseil.
