La production du miel au Togo connaîtra de beaux jours. À la suite d’un forum économique Togo-Union Européenne, organisé ces 13 et 14 juin 2021 à Lomé, le marché européen s’est ouvert au miel togolais.
Avec une population de plus de 450 millions d’habitants, l’Union européenne sera désormais la destination privilégiée des produits apicole togolais.
Dans l’ombre du forum, la délégation de l’Union européenne a décidé de financer l’élaboration d’un plan national de surveillance des résidus (PNSR) dans le miel du Togo. L’objectif de ce plan est de certifier la qualité du miel togolais en vue de son exportation vers le vieux continent.
« Cette autorisation va renforcer le développement de la filière miel et les exportations du Togo vers l’Union européenne » a indiqué le diplomate européen, chef de la délégation de l’UE, Joaquin Tasso Vilallonga.
Cette nouvelle disposition est le fruit d’un processus qui a commencé depuis 2019.
En rappel, la filière apicole togolaise connaît une progression notable en terme de production de miel. En 2018 par exemple, le Togo a produit plus de 37 727 litres de miel. L’année suivante (2019) cette production a augmenté considérablement de près de 60%. Les productions togolaises sont dans l’ordre de 59 833 litres.
Mais l’inquiétude avec ce nouvel accord avec l’Union européenne demeure le coût du miel sur le marché togolais. En effet, le miel togolais, certes, est de qualité naturelle, mais il coûte très cher.
Si avec ce nouvel accord avec l’Union européenne, les Togolais devraient encore souffrir pour s’approvisionner en miel, il urge alors d’œuvrer d’ores et déjà, pour que le produit ne connaisse pas une flambée des prix.
Jusqu’ici, le litre du miel est dans l’ordre de 2500 Fcfa et 3000fcfa sur le marché.
