Le Diplomate Ecclésial Pasteur Godson Lawson-Kpavuvu, Nouveau Président de l’Eglise Méthodiste du Togo
Un homme, fort charisme, préside les destinées de l’Eglise Méthodiste du Togo. Le Pasteur Godson Lawson-Kpavuvu, un homme dont la diplomatie ecclésiale n’est plus à démontrer.
Qui est l’ homme?
Marié et père de trois (03) enfants, Pasteur Godson Lawson-Kpavuvu a été fasciné depuis son enfance par la spiritualité monastique. Ce qui l’avait poussé à intégrer la communauté de Jean-Baptiste de Salle (de l’Eglise Catholique romaine) des frères de Togoville. Mais étant issu des parents dont le père est Protestant et la mère Catholique, il a fait le choix de retourner dans la foi (protestante) où il a été baptisé.
Pasteur, Secrétaire Général de l’église, Secrétaire Général du Conseil chrétien du Togo (CCT), président en exercice de L’Initiative œcuménique de lutte contre le VIH et le SIDA en Afrique (EHAIA), le nouveau président de l’Eglise Méthodiste du Togo a également travaillé dans la Commission Justice et Paix de Genève en Suisse, ce qui lui a permis, avec le titre de diplomate ecclésial, d’être fortement impliqué dans les résolutions des conflits au Libéria et en Sierra Leone. Il a risqué sa vie sur les théâtres d’opération de guerre à Kenema, Bô, Bukanan et MGbaga.
Pasteur Godson Lawson-Kpavuvu est impliqué dans la lutte contre le VIH/SIDA, la violence basée sur le genre et contre les enfants.
Il a occupé aussi le poste d’assistant au Bureau Afrique Australe de « American Friends Service Committee de Quaker International Affairs Programme », Johannesburg, Khotso House – Afrique du Sud. Le jeune pasteur a bénéficié de plusieurs formations, notamment une formation sur le leadership, Conférence des Eglises de Toute l’Afrique, CETA, Nairobi, Kenya, sur « the timeless message for the new millenium » Candler School of Theology, Emory University – Atlanta – USA – Sheffield, Englandn de diverses formations sur la sensibilisation à la lutte contre la prolifération des armes légères en Afrique de l’Ouest, Norvegian Initiative on Small Arms Trade (NISAT), Oslo – Norvège, une autre formation en Management de conflits et maintien de la paix, Conférence des Eglises de Toute l’Afrique- CETA- Conseil Sud-Africain des Eglises (SACC), Khotso House, Johannesburg, Afrique du Sud, en « Montage et management » de projets de développement, OIC International Abidjan – CÔTE D’IVOIRE et un diplôme en Techniques de communication.
Le président élu de l’église Méthodiste du Togo est titulaire de DEA Pluridisciplinaire, option sociologie obtenu à l’Université de Lomé, sur le thème : « Eglise et changements sociaux au Togo », après une Maîtrise en Théologie, Faculté de Théologie de Yaoundé dont le thème est « L’Eglise dans le processus de la seconde indépendance au Togo, une contribution à partir d’une relecture de Jean Marc ELA ».
