Le leader togolais n’a pas manifesté de lourdeur pour rencontrer Gérard Larcher, président du Sénat Français et sa délégation.
Les discussions ont débouché sur un accompagnement français dans la mise en place prochain d’un sénat au Togo.
En effet, le Togo se prépare à organiser des élections régionales dans les mois à venir. Et pour la circonstance, l’expertise et l’expérience française serait d’utilité.
Le pays aux 56.600km² de superficie est sans sénat depuis son indépendance. Il a amorcé sa décentralisation depuis quelques années, et peine à trouver la voie d’une gouvernance efficace.
Le sénat a été consacré dans la constitution togolaise de la IVème république. Il intervient en tant qu’organe représentatif des collectivités territoriales.
