Déjà 7 ans que Le premier archevêque du Togo, Robert-Casimir Dosseh-Anyron, a rejoint le Père Céleste. C’était un mardi 14 avril 2014 à Hirson (France) à l’âge de 89ans. Il avait quitté ce monde sans voir la canonisation de ses amis Papes Jean 23 et Jean Paul 2.
Qui était l’homme ?
Robert-Casimir Dosseh-Anyron est né à Vogan le 13 octobre 1925, de parents chrétiens : Casimir Dosseh et Cécile Meyokpo Ayi-Gabiam. Il fait ses études primaires à Lomé et ses études secondaires à Togoville d’abord, puis au petit séminaire de Ouidah, études couronnées par le baccalauréat.
Dans une note biographique, l’Archidiocèse de Lomé précise qu’après la philosophie scolastique, Mgr Joseph Strebler alors archevêque de Lomé, l’envoie à Rome en automne 1948. Le 21 décembre 1951, il y est ordonné prêtre et l’année suivante, il o obtint la licence en théologie. Les trois années suivantes, il prépare une thèse de doctorat sur « L’Eucharistie dans les œuvres de Bossuet ». Il la soutient brillamment le 12 janvier 1955 avec la mention summa cum laude (excellence).
A son retour à Lomé, il est nommé vicaire à la paroisse St Jean Apôtre de Tsévié. En 1960, Mgr Strebler l’appelle à Lomé comme directeur de l’Enseignement catholique et, quelques mois plus tard, il devient vicaire général de l’archidiocèse de Lomé.
Le 4 avril 1962, le Saint-Siège publie la nomination de quatre nouveaux archevêques africains élu le 10 mars 1962, parmi lesquels l’abbé Robert-Casimir Dosseh-Anyron, alors vicaire général de l’archidiocèse de Lomé. L’histoire retient que dans tout le pays, ce fut une explosion de joie. Le premier président de la République Togolaise, M. Sylvanus Olympio, était un des premiers à lui adresser un message de félicitation : « Au nom du Gouvernement et en mon nom personnel, je vous adresse mes félicitations les plus sincères et j’exprime le vœu que l’Eglise, sous votre direction, travaillera avec le Gouvernement pour un développement accéléré de notre pays dans tous domaines… »
Le sacre de Mgr Dosseh a eu lieu 10 juin 1962, paroisse St Augustin d’Amouvité, des mains du Cardinal Julius Döpfner, archevêque de Munich, consécrateur principal, et de Nosseigneurs Joseph Strebler et Bernardin Gantin, co-consécrateurs. Il devient ainsi le premier archevêque togolais.
Le lendemain, il est intronisé à la cathédrale Sacré-Cœur de Lomé par Mgr Maury, délégué apostolique.
Mgr Robert-Casimir Dosseh-Anyron a vaillamment servi l’Eglise et la nation : de nombreuses réalisations ecclésiales, sociales et culturelles sont à son actif.
Après 30 ans de service épiscopal à la tête de l’Eglise-famille de Dieu à Lomé, Mgr Dosseh-Anyron devient archevêque émérite de Lomé en 1992.
