Le Forum économique mondial s’est ouvert lundi 16 janvier à Davos, une petite ville d’environ 10.000 habitants, nichée au coeur des Alpes suisses.
Chaque année, les décideurs du monde entier se retrouvent à Davos, en Suisse, pour le Forum économique mondial. Cette édition 2023 s’annonce particulièrement mouvementée, dans un contexte de crises multiples, entre la guerre en Ukraine, le réchauffement climatique ou encore la pandémie de Covid-19 qui continue de faire des siennes.
- Alain Berset a officiellement ouvert ce mardi en milieu de matinée l’édition 2023 du Forum économique mondial de Davos (WEF). Dans son discours d’ouverture, il a condamné l’offensive russe, une « attaque brutale » contre le droit international et le multilatéralisme, et estimé que les démocraties étaient à un tournant.
- Plus de 50 chefs d’Etat et de gouvernement sont présents à Davos (GR) pour un Forum économique mondial en pleine incertitude, de la guerre en Ukraine à la crise énergétique en passant par la menace de récession. En dehors du chancelier allemand Olaf Scholz, un nombre restreint de dirigeants de pays de toute première importance ont fait le déplacement cette année.
- Au total, près de 3000 membres des différents écosystèmes politiques, économiques ou de la société civile discuteront à Davos jusqu’à vendredi sous la thématique « Collaboration dans un monde fragmenté ».
- Au moins une cinquantaine de rencontres bilatérales sont au programme pour les conseillers fédéraux, dont un tiers environ pour le seul président de la Confédération Alain Berset. L’Ukraine figure surtout à l’agenda d’Ignazio Cassis et de Guy Parmelin.
- Sur place, Davos est barricadée. Plusieurs corps de police et 5000 militaires sont engagés pour protéger la station grisonne au sol et dans les airs contre le terrorisme, l’extrémisme et les cyberattaques. Une première manifestation a eu lieu dimanche.
Les débats sont centrés ce mardi sur la guerre en Ukraine.
Une importante délégation ukrainienne est arrivée dans la station de ski suisse, emmenée par la première dame Olena Zelenska. Ursula von der Leyen, la présidente de la Commission européenne, a promis que L’Europe continuera à soutenir l’Ukraine « aussi longtemps qu’il le faudra » face à la Russie.

La présidence suédoise de l’Union européenne a, elle, dénoncé « un crime de guerre » russe. Un nouvel exemple de « suspicion de violations du droit de la guerre », a réagi de son côté le secrétaire général de l’Onu Antonio Guterres.
