Le Togo effectue des efforts dans la digitalisation de ses services financiers. En début de la crise sanitaire actuelle liée au Corona virus, le gouvernement de Faure Gnassingbé avait initié un projet d’aide sociale et de soutien aux couches vulnérables dénommé ‘’Novissi’’.
Il s’est révélé, outre l’apport des 13 milliards aux familles bénéficiaires, que la plateforme Novissi, eusse été un impulseur des mobiles money.
Selon l’agence EcoFin, « Au Togo, le nombre d’usagers de mobile money tourne autour de 5 millions de personnes, sur une population de 8,2 millions d’habitants ».
Le programme Novissi a permis la création de 170 278 nouveaux comptes dématérialisés, entre avril 2020 et janvier 2021, soit une augmentation de 7%, indique le dernier rapport national sur l’évolution des marchés régulés.
Les services de mobile money sont entrés en activité au Togo en 2013. Les deux seuls disponibles sont Tmoney (de la société téléphonique malgache Togocom) et Flooz (du groupe Moov Africa-Togo).
