Le lycée Kara 1 a accueilli le vendredi 08 juillet 2022 la 2ième phase du concours de sélection des meilleurs élèves en mathématique. Ceux-ci devront représenter le Togo aux olympiades de l’Union Mathématique Africaine en 2023.
L’initiative vient de la Société des Sciences Mathématiques du Togo (SS MATH).
L’objectif est de promouvoir les sciences mathématiques et de rapprocher les sciences fondamentales des réalités de développement. Le Pr Kokou TCHARIE, président de la SS MATH a rappelé que les sciences mathématiques sont le centre du développent scientifique technique. 118 élèves ont composé sur toute l’étendue du territoire.
Le Professeur TCHARIE a précisé que la phase nationale en cours se fait exactement comme le baccalauréat.
À l’issu de cette phase, 30 meilleurs seront retenus pour une formation d’un mois à Lomé. Puis viendra une deuxième phase après laquelle trois (03) filles et trois (03) garçons seront retenus pour défendre les couleurs du Togo aux olympiades de 2023.
L’étape de la région de la Kara a mobilisé 22 candidats des différents établissements.
