Une manifestation contre la fourniture d’armes à l’Ukraine dans le conflit qui l’oppose à la Russie a réuni environ 10.000 personnes samedi 25 février 2023 à Berlin, suscitant des critiques de membres du gouvernement.
Organisée par un mouvement de gauche, la manifestation survient au lendemain du premier anniversaire de l’invasion de l’Ukraine par la Russie, qui a eu pour conséquence la livraison à Kyiv d’armements de la part de pays occidentaux, plusieurs trains de sanctions contre Moscou et des manifestations de soutien à l’Ukraine partout dans le monde.
“Nous demandons au chancelier allemand d’arrêter l’escalade des livraisons d’armes. Maintenant ! (…) Parce que chaque jour perdu coûte jusqu’à 1.000 vies – et nous rapproche d’une troisième guerre mondiale”, ont écrit les organisateurs de la manifestation sur leur site Internet.
Ce “soulèvement pour la paix” a été notamment lancé à l’appel de Sahra Wagenknecht, membre du parti de gauche allemand Die Linke.
L’Allemagne est, avec les États-Unis, l’un des plus importants fournisseurs d’armes de l’Ukraine.
“Négocier, pas escalader”, pouvait-on lire sur une pancarte tenue par un manifestant, tandis qu’une banderole dans la foule disait : “Pas notre guerre”.
Selon un porte-parole de la police, 10.000 personnes se sont rassemblées autour de la porte de Brandebourg, dans le centre de la capitale allemande.
La police a mobilisé 1.400 agents pour maintenir l’ordre et faire respecter l’interdiction de faire parader des uniformes militaires, des drapeaux russes et soviétiques, certains symboles d’extrême droite et de chanter des chansons militaires russes.
Le porte-parole de la police a déclaré n’avoir eu aucun signalement d’une quelconque présence de groupes d’extrême droite et que la manifestation, à laquelle le ministre allemand des Finances Christian Lindner a déclaré qu’il fallait “clairement s’opposer”, était pacifique.
“Celui qui ne soutient pas l’Ukraine est du mauvais côté de l’Histoire”, a-t-il écrit sur Twitter.
