Niamey rejette la médiation de l’Algérie pour « un plan de transition de six mois ». [Communiqué]
Lundi 2 octobre 2023, dans un communiqué, le ministère des affaires étrangères algérien a déclaré que le Niger aurait accepté la médiation de son pays qui propose aux militaires ayant pris le pouvoir dans ce pays d’Afrique de l’Ouest « un plan de transition de six mois », une déclaration rejetée par Niamey.
« Le gouvernement algérien a reçu par le canal du ministère nigérien des affaires étrangères une acceptation de la médiation algérienne visant à promouvoir une solution politique à la crise du Niger », avait précisé le ministère algérien dans son communiqué.
Le président algérien, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a chargé le chef de la diplomatie, Ahmed Attaf, « de se rendre à Niamey dans les plus brefs délais pour y entamer des discussions (…) avec toutes les parties prenantes », toujours selon ce communiqué
Alger avait proposé fin août des discussions politiques « pendant six mois au maximum (…) avec la participation et l’approbation de toutes les parties au Niger, sans exclusion », sous la tutelle d’une « autorité civile dirigée par une personnalité consensuelle et acceptée par tous les bords de la classe politique », afin de conduire au « rétablissement de l’ordre constitutionnel dans le pays ».

A l’occasion de la rencontre tenue le 25 septembre 2023 à New York, entre les Ministres des Affaires Etrangères de la Coopération et des Nigériens à l’Extérieur et le Ministre Algérien des Affaires des Etrangères et de la Communauté à l’Extérieur, la partie Nigérienne a fait part de la disponibilité des autorités nigériennes à examiner l’offre de médiation de l’Algérie comme contribution pour une solution négociée, devant permettre au peuple du Niger, de repartir sur des nouvelles bases, pour reconquérir et asseoir sa souveraineté, son indépendance et la liberté de ses choix politiques et économiques.
Cette position traduit l’expression de la singularité des liens séculaires d’amitié et de fraternité entre nos deux États et nos deux peuples frères,
Dans ce cadre, la partie nigérienne a précisé dès le départ que la durée de la transition devrait résulter des conclusions du Forum National Inclusif ainsi que l’orientation donnée pour un changement dans la gouvernance de notre pays.
Avant toute officialisation des conclusions de cette rencontre, le Ministère des Affaires Étrangères, de la Coopération et des nigériens de l’Extérieur a été surpris de relever à travers les réseaux sociaux et certains médias, un communiqué du gouvernement algérien indiquant que le Niger aurait » accepté la médiation de l’Algérie qui a proposé aux militaires une transition de six mois » .
Au regard de ce qui précède, le gouvernement de la République du Niger rejette lesdites conclusions tout en réitérant sa volonté de préserver les liens d’amitié et de fraternité avec l’Algérie.
