Journaliste engagé, c’est ce samedi 19 mars 2022 lors de son inhumation et en face de son cercueil, que la presse togolaise a compris que Joël EGAH a définitivement rangé sa plume qu’il savait si bien manier.
C’était le dimanche du 06 mars 2022, que le confrère et l’ami Kossi Vignon Joël Egah, Directeur de Publication du journal « Fraternité » avait tiré sa révérence, suite à une crise à en croire la famille du disparu. Une mort « tragique et surprenante » que d’aucun n’arrive toujours pas à expliquer.
Une grande perte pour la presse togolaise et surtout pour le journalisme d’investigation plus que jamais soumis à rudes épreuves dans un pays où la liberté d’expression et le monde des médias cheminent avec des béquilles.
Samedi 19 mars 2022, cet « orfèvre » de la plume, Kossi Vignon Joël EGAH a été conduit à sa dernière demeure au cimetière de Bè-Kpota, une banlieue proche de Lomé (Togo), après une messe d’enterrement à la paroisse Saint Kizito de Tokoin Doumassessé où le jour d’avant, vendredi 18 mars, une messe- veillée a été célébrée dans cette même paroisse en sa mémoire.
Nombreux étaient présents à ses obsèques : confrères journalistes, amis, parents, les représentants des associations de presse, des personnalités politiques et de la société civile, des curieux et anonymes… aussi, quelques officiels du monde médiatique et de la communication.
Lui qui, d’habitude, d’une plume sûre, attaquait méthodiquement et habilement les hommes qui font le monde à travers ses écrits et ses prises de position en dénonçant l’injustice et en défendant la veuve et l’orphelin s’en est définitivement allé.
Déjà le 06 mars dernier, à l’annonce de sa mort, Plusieurs personnalités togolaises à l’instar du ministre de la communication, Prof. Akodah Ayewouadan, le Prof. Togoata Apedo-Amah, le député Gerry Taama, ainsi que les hommes des médias ou encore des anonymes, des amis et universitaires, ont salué la mémoire de l’illustre disparu.
