Le 5 ème congrès du parti politique le Nouvel Engagement Togolais (NET) s’est tenu ce 19 août 2023 au siège de la Fondation Partage pour le Développement et la Solidarité Communautaire (FOPADESC) à Lomé . Cette rencontre politique a été marquée par la présence d’un grand nombre de militants et de sympathisants venus des différents coins du Togo.
Placé sur le thème « Tenir nos positions, conquérir des horizons », le congrès du parti NET qui a réuni huit cent délégués des 55 fédérations que compte le NET à travers le pays a eu lieu ce 19 août 2023 à FOPADESC. Étaient présent, des militants venus nombreux de toutes les régions du pays , des sympathisants et également des formations politiques soeurs.
Le discours d’ouverture a été prononcé par le Président du NET, Monsieur Gerry Komandega TAAMA, qui a salué la mobilisation des militants et a appelé à l’unité et la solidarité pour faire avancer la cause du parti. Il a également présenté les grandes lignes du programme du parti pour les années à venir. Il s’agit notamment de la lutte contre la pauvreté, l’injustice sociale, la corruption et la promotion des droits de l’homme.
Insuffler une nouvelle dynamique au partir et repartir sur de nouvelles bases et sur de nouveaux engagements
Les travaux ont tourné autour des prochaines élections législatives et régionales auxquelles le NET se prépare activement à y participer. Le député Gerry Taama et ses collaborateurs se disent prêts à affronter les prochaines élections en vue au Togo.
« Avec 10 ans d’existence, nous considérons que nous avons fait la première étape de notre parcours politique. A compter de ce congrès, nous repartons sur de nouvelles bases et sur de nouveaux engagements », a expliqué Gerry Taama.
Le président national du NET détaille que la conquête des horizons se résume en l’engagement du parti à travailler pour avoir plus de députés à l’assemblée nationale lors des prochaines législatives et marquer de sa présence au cours des élections régionales.
A l’issue du congrès, les militants ont investi des candidats qui vont se présenter aux prochaines élections législatives et régionales.
Taama prêt à passer le témoin à quelqu’un
Ce congrès ordinaire précède le congrès statutaire, qui selon les indiscrétions a lieu dans un mois. Ce sera l’occasion de voir de nouvelles têtes prendre les rênes du parti. À en croire le président du NET , il y a au sein du parti, beaucoup de ressources humaines de bonnes qualités. Des jeunes dynamiques engagés à faire bouger les lignes.
Gerry Taama, président du parti reconnait que juridiquement il n’a pas le droit de briguer un mandat de plus.
« Logiquement par rapport à nos textes, je suis dans mon dernier mandat. Il faut que je passe le témoin à quelqu’un. Ce sera d’ailleurs l’objet du prochain congrès statutaire… Je commence même par en faire vieux », a rassuré l’ancien officier des FAT.
« Nous avons aujourd’hui un acquis qui se voit sur le terrain. A ce congrès par exemple, nous y attendons 500 délégués et nous sommes autour de 800. Il y a alors de la ressource humaine et nous avons tous au sein du NET de très bonnes idées », a-t-il justifié.
