Rentrée scolaire 2023-2024 | Au Togo, les frais scolaires seront harmonisés dans les établissements privés laïcs
Au Togo, nombreux sont ces parents d’élèves qui ont opté pour les écoles privées laïcs dans l’espoir d’offrir à leurs enfants une éducation de qualité. Cependant, l’on constate une augmentation irrationnelle des frais de scolarité dans certains établissements privés du Togo.
À quelques semaines de la nouvelle rentrée scolaire programmée pour le 18 septembre 2023 , le ministère en charge de l’enseignement primaire, secondaire technique et de l’artisanat au Togo a récemment engagé des discussions avec les représentants des écoles privées. La fermeture des écoles clandestines et la fixation irrationnelle des frais de scolarité par les promoteurs étaient au cœur de la rencontre.
Harmoniser et plafonner les frais de scolarité
À ce effet, le ministre des enseignements primaire, secondaire, technique et de l’artisanat Komla Dodzi Kokoroko a rencontré mercredi 23 août 2023 à Lomé, les représentants des associations de promoteurs d’établissements privés (UFEPLA et APEPLT) et des représentants de l’union togolaise des associations des parents d’élèves (UTAPE).
A l’issue des échanges avec les acteurs clés du secteur, les responsables des écoles privées sont appelés à harmoniser et plafonner les frais scolaires en fonction des zones pédagogiques, afin d’éviter la surenchère et soulager les parents d’élèves.
Assainissement du secteur de l’éducation
Également, l’une des principales préoccupations abordées lors de cette réunion a été la nécessité de garantir des normes de qualité uniformes au sein du secteur de l’éducation privée. Des mesures sévères ont été récemment prises par le gouvernement pour fermer des établissements opérant illégalement et dans des conditions inadéquates, mettant en péril la sécurité tant des élèves que des enseignants.
Les représentants des écoles privées ont salué ces actions, soulignant l’importance d’assainir le secteur de l’enseignement en général et du privé en particulier dans des environnements propices à l’apprentissage.
Notons que 132 établissements privés laïcs de tout niveau confondu reconnus clandestins, n’ouvriront pas les portes à la rentrée scolaire prochaine s’ils ne sont toujours pas reconnus par le ministère de tutel.
