Contacté, le Vice-président du Mouvement patriotique pour la démocratie et le développement (MPDD), Gérard Adja donne plus de précisions sur la situation du patriarche. Le bras droit de Dr Agbéyomé Kodjo rassure l’opinion.
« Effectivement, Mgr Kpodzro est hospitalisé. On le suit médicalement actuellement. Mais, ne vous inquiétez pas trop, ça va aller par l’amour de Dieu », a indiqué Gérard Adja.
Un retour possible de Mgr Kpodzro au pays ?
Cela fait près de trois ans que l’archevêque émérite de Lomé est en exil, loin de son pays. L’homme de Dieu, symbole de la résistance dans la lutte pour l’alternance politique au Togo, estimait que sa vie et celle de son assistant Marc Mondji étaient menacée. Pour Gérard Adja, il est impérieux que le vieux nonagénaire, fondateur de la DMK (Dynamique Mgr Kpodzro), regagne sa terre natale.
« Vous savez, Mgr Kpodzro est Togolais et il faut qu’il revienne dans son pays natal. Mgr Kpodzro, n’est pas n’importe qui et ça tout le monde le sait. Dans un pays normal, si les gens sont sérieux, on ne peut pas laisser ce vieux nonagénaire dans ces conditions à l’extérieur du pays. C’est tout à fait normal qu’on réclame son retour dans le pays. Vous savez très bien que Mgr Kpodzro a rendu beaucoup de services à ce pays. Il est un ancien président de l’assemblée nationale et nous ne devons pas oublier ça », a-t-il souligné.
Au niveau des autorités togolaises, le retour de Mgr Kpodzro ne pose aucun problème. Dans une récente sortie, le ministre Gilbert Bawara a laissé entendre que même son patron Faure Gnassingbé, chef de l’Etat, souhaite son retour aux bercails.
« Non, Mgr Kpodzro n’a jamais fait l’objet d’aucune procédure judiciaire, d’aucune poursuite, d’aucune enquête, d’aucune menace. Et même lorsque la situation l’exigeait, le gouvernement a veillé à le protéger. Nous souhaitons qu’il revienne, nous avons toujours eu cette position et nous ne changerons pas. Il est le bienvenu », a déclaré Bawara.
