Les tensions se sont exacerbées ces derniers jours entre la France et le Mali. L’ambassadeur de France au Mali est devenu « persona non grata » . Les autorités maliennes dominées par les militaires décident d’expulser l’ambassadeur de France

En effet, le gouvernement malien décide d’expulser l’ambassadeur de France, dans une nouvelle escalade de la brouille entre Bamako et Paris, a annoncé ce lundi la télévision d’Etat. « Le gouvernement de la République du Mali informe l’opinion nationale et internationale que ce jour (…) l’ambassadeur de France à Bamako, son excellence Joël Meyer, a été convoqué par le ministre des Affaires étrangères et de la coopération internationale (et) qu’il lui a été notifié la décision du gouvernement qui l’invite à quitter le territoire national dans un délai de 72 heures », a annoncé un communiqué lu par la télévision d’Etat.

Les autorités maliennes ont justifié cette décision par les récentes déclarations « hostiles » de responsables français à leur encontre. Cette convocation marque un nouveau durcissement des tensions entre le Mali et la France, l’ancienne puissance coloniale engagée militairement contre les jihadistes au Mali et au Sahel depuis 2013. Les relations n’ont cessé de se détériorer depuis que des colonels ont pris par la force en août 2020 la tête de ce pays, plongé depuis 2012 dans une profonde crise sécuritaire et politique.
