Le Togo a réalisé ces dernières années des progrès bien qu’insuffisants dans le domaine d’égalité des sexes.
En marge des travaux du CIAN, la cheffe du gouvernement, Madame Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé a participé au ‘Forum Génération Égalité des Nations Unies’, qui s’est tenu à Paris.
Le Forum génération égalité intervient deux décennies après la Quatrième conférence mondiale sur les femmes et l’adoption de sa portée historique, notamment la Déclaration et le programme d’action de Pékin ou encore plateforme d’action de Pékin. Il s’agit de supprimer les différents obstacles systémiques qui empêchent les femmes de participer à tous les domaines d’activités de la vie.
Ce symposium de haut niveau a vue la participation d’éminentes personnalités influentes de la planète telle qu’Angéla Merkel, chancelière allemande, Antonio Guterres, la Fondation Bill and Melinda Gates, etc…
C’est une réunion pour les différents acteurs politiques et économiques d’effectuer un bilan pour les travaux précédents et de définir ensemble les politiques internationales de redistribution du pouvoir entre hommes et femmes.
Dans son discours, la Directrice exécutive d’ONU Femmes, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, a dénoncé le fait que « partout dans le monde, les femmes sont cantonnées à un petit espace ». Elle a noté que les femmes représentent un quart de tous les managers, parlementaires, négociateurs sur le changement climatique et « moins d’un quart de ceux qui négocient des accords de paix ».
« Un quart ne suffit pas. Un quart n’est pas l’égalité. L’égalité, c’est la moitié, là où les hommes et les femmes sont ensemble », a-t-elle déclaré.
« L’égalité des genres est essentiellement une question de pouvoir, et de pouvoir dans un monde encore largement dominé par les hommes, avec une culture encore largement patriarcale », a déclaré le Secrétaire général de l’ONU, António Guterres, lors du Forum Génération Égalité.
Et effectivement, la société est encore très patriarcale. Au Togo en particulier, plusieurs postes de décisions sont encore sous les verrous masculins. Le travail reste encore à réaliser au Togo bien que le gouvernement s’évertue à inverser la tendance, au travers des quelques nominations à la primature, à la présidence de l’Assemblée nationale, à certains postes ministériels, etc.
Les femmes jouissant des 84 % des droits reconnus aux hommes restent encore un mythe sur le terrain. Il faut un travail de sensibilisation et de conscientisation à tous les niveaux.
Peut-être que les nouveaux engagements de financements (40 milliards $) destinés à renforcer l’accès des femmes à tous les droits, « partout dans le monde » pourraient servir en partie à cela.
