Togo : la commémoration du mois de l’amnistie en Afrique lancée officiellement par Robert Dussey
Le ministre des affaires étrangères, de l’intégration régionale et des Togolais de l’Extérieur, Robert Dussey a lancé officiellement lundi 05 septembre 2022, les travaux de la commémoration du mois de l’amnistie en Afrique. L’objectif est d’encourager la remise et la collecte des armes illégalement détenues en Afrique.
Le Togo accueille une session de l’Union Africaine consacrée au lancement de la commémoration du « Mois de l’amnistie en Afrique pour 2022 ». Cette initiative s’inscrit dans la feuille de route globale de l’UA sur les mesures pratiques visant à faire taire les armes à feu en Afrique.
Ouvrant les travaux, le ministre Robert Dussey précise que la mise en place d’un mois de l’amnistie est une initiative louable de l’institution continentale. Pour lui, cette commémoration trouve son fondement dans le contexte sécuritaire africain où les conflits persistent malheureusement.
« Aujourd’hui nous pouvons dire que la circulation illicite des armes à petit calibres est un handicap réel pour la paix et la sécurité sur le continent. C’est pourquoi la mise en place d’un mois de l’amnistie est une initiative louable de notre institution continentale. Elle trouve son fondement dans le contexte sécuritaire africain où les conflits persistent malheureusement et alimentés par des facteurs multiformes et par la tendance des civiles à acquérir des armes pour se protéger » a révélé le ministre Robert Dussey.
Dans la foulée, les premiers responsables informent qu’il est prévu dans l’après-midi une destruction symbolique des armes illicites récupérées par les autorités togolaises. Le vernissage des œuvres d’art sur la paix a mis fin aux activités matinales.
Étaient présents, les membres du corps diplomatique accrédités au Togo, les chefs traditionnels, les acteurs impliqués dans la lutte contre la prolifération, la circulation et le trafic des armes légères et de petits calibres, les organes d’appui de l’UA, les représentants des différents partenaires, les premiers responsables du Conseil de paix et de sécurité (CPS) et les experts des 15 Etats membres de ce conseil.
