Lomé mobilise des parlementaires, la société civile et les jeunes pour la lutte contre le terrorisme et la prévention de l’extrémisme violent en Afrique
Une conférence parlementaire de haut niveau sur la lutte contre le terrorisme et l’extrémisme violent se tiendra les 19 et 20 janvier 2023 à Lomé, capitale de la République togolaise. Elle est organisée conjointement par le Bureau des Nations Unies pour la lutte contre le terrorisme (UNOCT) et l’Assemblée nationale du Togo en collaboration avec l’Union parlementaire africaine, le Comité interparlementaire du G5 Sahel, et le Conseil de la Choura de l’État du Qatar.
Ces assises de haut niveau de deux jours sont axées sur la recherche des moyens et stratégies pour une plus grande collaboration entre les parlementaires, les jeunes ainsi que la société civile dans la lutte contre le terrorisme et accroître leur implication dans les processus d’élaboration des politiques relatives à la prévention de l’extrémisme violent.

COMMUNIQUE DE PRESSE
Lomé va abriter la Conférence de haut niveau sur l’engagement parlementaire avec les jeunes et les organisations de la société civile : une réponse collective au terrorisme et à l’extrémisme violent en Afrique.
Lomé/Togo, Lundi 16 janvier 2023.
La capitale togolaise va abriter du 19 au 20 Janvier 2023, une conférence de haut niveau sur l’engagement parlementaire avec les jeunes et les organisations de la société civile dans la lutte contre le terrorisme et l’extrémisme violent sur le continent africain.
Cette conférence parlementaire se tiendra à l’hôtel 2 février et est organisée conjointement par le Bureau des Nations Unies pour la lutte contre le terrorisme (UNOCT) et l’Assemblée nationale du Togo en collaboration avec l’Union parlementaire africaine, le Comité interparlementaire du G5 Sahel, et le Conseil de la Choura de l’État du Qatar.
Sont attendus à ces assises de Lomé plus de 250 participants dont une dizaine de présidents d’assemblées parlementaires, des représentants des parlements nationaux des États d’Afrique, des organisations non gouvernementales de jeunes et des organisations de la société civile, des représentants des agences du Système des Nations Unies et des organisations internationales.
Cette conférence fait suite aux assises organisées en mars 2022 à Doha au Qatar par l’UNOCT pour faire face aux menaces émergentes en Afrique. A Lomé, il est question de poursuivre la recherche et les moyens par lesquels les parlementaires pourraient effectivement renforcer leur engagement avec les jeunes dans la prévention de l’extrémisme violent.
Le deuxième jour de ces assises sera consacré au groupe de travail parlementaire de lutte contre le terrorisme pour l’Afrique. Cette première réunion connaîtra la participation des représentants des parlements nationaux des États membres d’Afrique ainsi que les représentants des assemblées parlementaires en Afrique et autres assemblées parlementaires concernées.
Le groupe de travail devrait fonctionner sur une base annuelle et est présidé par l’Union parlementaire africaine. Les recommandations élaborées par le groupe de travail seront partagées et analysées par les délégations pour envisager davantage d’actions bilatérales.
